一个八百年前南海碧波下的故事浮出水面，粤剧《南海一号》向世人展现了一段海上丝绸之路的辉煌历史；一幅南宋繁华都市的风情画卷；一种敢为天下先的岭南人精神；一阙异国两地震撼人心而又凄美的爱情悲歌……
粤剧《南海一号》在传统的粤剧表演程式添加了多元的现代艺术表现元素：具有波斯风情的曲调流淌于传统粤剧唱腔行板之中，典雅秀丽的戏曲身段和奔放狂野的波斯舞姿交织在一起，不同风格的元素在舞台上碰撞磨合，迸发出绚烂的艺术火花……<!--EndFragment-->
由广东省文化厅主办，广东粤剧院、广州大剧院、广东省博物馆、广东海上丝绸之路博物馆承办的大型新编粤剧《南海一号》首演及“南海Ⅰ号”文物精品展将于10月13、14日晚上8时在广州大剧院举行，这是广州大剧院建成以来第一次上演粤剧，更是粤剧与文物展览第一次联手。届时，广东省博物馆和广东海上丝绸之路博物馆将精选在“南海Ⅰ号”古船打捞出来的最有代表性的珍贵文物，在广州大剧院大堂展出。展出的文物包括鎏金腰带、龙泉窑青釉刻花大碗、鎏金手镯、金戒指、青石砚及具有波斯风格的一批宋代瓷器。值得一提的是，800年前一些瓷器上的墨书文字 “六哥”、“李大用”、“林花”等名字保存完好，《南海一号》剧中角色的名字正是取之于此，最受关注的“鎏金腰带”、“鎏金手镯”也成了剧中的道具。
主办单位别出心裁地把文物考古与艺术作品巧妙结合，既有历史的真实积淀，又有艺术的虚构融合，做到动静结合、古今结合、虚实结合，从而为这部戏增添了神秘的色彩。
广东省文化厅副厅长景李虎说：“粤剧目前面临着许多艺术形式的竞争，创新才是粤剧的出路！创新也是创作《南海一号》的初衷。”景李虎表示，早在2003年制订“南海Ⅰ号”打捞方案的时候就有根据文物创作艺术作品的构思，现在通过粤剧《南海一号》的打造，使文物保护和粤剧艺术作品相得益彰，艺术作品利用文物作平台，文物又可以利用艺术作品做宣传，两者形成良性互动，是对“南海I号”这一历史文化遗产进行综合利用、深度开发，对推动文化产业起着积极的作用。
新编粤剧《南海一号》是广东粤剧院史上为数不多的原创剧目，强大的主创班子为该剧的创作质量打下坚实的基础，编剧、导演、作曲、唱腔设计、舞蹈编排、舞美设计、灯光设计服装造型设计等均是国内戏曲界的精英人才；广东粤剧院举全院之力，调动了三个演出团的艺术骨干，丁凡、蒋文端、梁淑卿、姚志强、林家宝、彭庆华、曾小敏等七位国家一级演员组成鼎盛的演员阵容，致力打造出一台艺术水平领先、紧跟时代潮流、适合不同年龄段观众观看的精品剧目。
观众叫好才是真正的精品。广东是海上丝绸之路的发源地，运用“南海Ⅰ号”题材，在粤剧中自然地引入异国文化元素，与本土文化元素形成强烈的对比，让人们耳熟能详的粤剧展现出斑斓艳丽的色彩。《南海一号》以探索、创新为主旨，今年7月彩排时向观众发出了调查问卷， 95%的观众认为该剧在传统粤剧的基础上添加了丰富的现代表演元素，增强了粤剧的感染力和观赏性。
粤剧《南海一号》导演傅勇凡表示，为了吸引更多的年轻观众, 《南海一号》以粤剧为基础，结合了影视、话剧、舞台剧等现代元素，但它的骨子里还是一出粤剧。根据剧情要求，《南海一号》剧中的波斯人物服装几易其稿，更添视觉效果；在传统唱腔中糅合波斯音乐的元素，形式新颖而不乏粤味；在舞美设计上，主创人员大胆加入高科技舞台技术，做出一个可以360度旋转的船头，整个船板宽约<?xml:namespace prefix = st1 />
广东粤剧院院长丁凡介绍，粤剧《南海一号》是粤剧表演艺术与“考古热”相结合的一次有益尝试，它虚构了一个可歌可泣的异国两地爱情悲剧,还展现了中国古代“海上丝绸之路”的繁荣景象，岭南先民自信、大气、包容、敢为天下先的精神在剧中得到了很好的诠释。而谈到创新，丁凡认为：“新元素的加入，波斯风格音乐的运用、歌剧的唱法、多媒体的表现形式，观众可能会有一个适应的过程，但我认为是丰富了粤剧的表演形式，希望能探索出一条粤剧创新的路子。”
粤剧艺术大师红线女对《南海一号》寄予厚望，多次到排练场观看指导排练。看完彩排后，她对此剧充满信心，提出了修改意见。她希望把《南海一号》打造成能成为粤剧创新的代表作，能反映广东文化强省艺术水平、唱响全国的粤剧精品。

南宋高宗时代，广州航海通商大户李大用、李六哥父子，响应朝廷远航市舶、再兴大宋之号召，修造大船“南海号”，载着富有异国特色的改良陶瓷，远渡波斯。全剧以李六哥与李大用两代人的观念冲突为主线，突出了六哥敢为人先、革新陶瓷、富强图存的宏志。而六哥与表妹林花、波斯姑娘古丽之间凄婉、纠结的爱情，波斯青年商人哈立德的从中作梗，更是制造出全剧一个又一个的高潮。“南海号”与船中人的命运最终因风暴来袭而淹没于汪洋大海中。

李六哥---（丁凡 饰）20岁左右，思想新锐，心胸豁达，立志以革新陶瓷的方式与海外贸易，以赚取更多财富的广州青年商人。他与青梅竹马的表妹林花有婚约，却被波斯古丽深深吸引，在与古丽的交往中，他更清晰地认识到革新陶瓷的长远商机。
林 花--（蒋文端 饰）18岁左右，李六哥表妹，是性格内敛，举止娴淑，颇精琴棋书画的传统中国女性。出生前，其父与李大用出海船沉身亡，后由李大用抚养并指婚给李六哥。她的最大心愿是想亲到波斯海域祭祀父亲在天之灵。
古 丽---（梁淑卿 饰）20岁左右，波斯巨商葛老爷之女，富有波斯人聪明、热情、开朗性格。因出身大商人家庭，任性、调皮而又颇具见识。由于对东方文明充满了好奇，深深地爱上了同样对波斯充满好奇心的李六哥。
李大用---（姚志强 饰）50多岁，李六哥之父，憨厚的南海商船纲首（即船长），是受到南海官员倚重的航海专家、南宋大富商。因当年与表兄（林花之父）出海，不识海路导致表兄沉船，而发誓不惜用生命来绘制完成《华夷万里航海图》。
葛老爷---（林家宝 饰）40多岁，古丽之父，中国通，波斯商会会长，性格开朗，典型的乐天派，往来海上丝路20多年，与李大用是老朋友。
哈立德---（文汝清 饰）30多岁，钻营、投机、攀龙附凤，心胸狭窄，嗜酒成性的波斯商会青年商人，为了早日实现成为波斯首富的梦想，赢得了葛老爷的欢心，遂与其女古丽定婚。
陈监门---（杨黎浩 饰）50多岁，市舶司监门官，市侩、狡猾，长于挑拨离间、无中生有的官场老油条，看见李六哥捐的官比自己的官大，顿生疾恨，便暗中与其作对，并借哈立德之手谄害六哥。
